Good Heart Program
The Good Heart Program consists of eight 1 hour classes held on Tuesday’s from 2:30-3:30 pm with students from 3rd-4th grade along with their parents, siblings, and other guardians. The children are given a brief summary of a children’s literature book to engage together with their families in a Creative Dialogue with issues that relate to the environment. After that, they engage in hands-on science and math activities that emphasize in E-STEAM.
El Programa Good Heart consta de ocho clases de 1 hora que se llevan a cabo los martes de 2:30-3:30 pm con estudiantes de 3º a 4º grado junto con sus padres, hermanos y otros tutores. Los niños reciben un breve resumen de un libro de literatura infantil para que participen junto con sus familias en un Diálogo Creativo sobre temas relacionados con el medio ambiente. Después de eso, participan en actividades prácticas de ciencias y matemáticas que enfatizan en E-STEAM.
CSUN students provide their support through Zoom while helping to present to the children and their families. This has also become a fun activity to do for them and a beautiful experience with the children!
Los estudiantes de CSUN brindan su apoyo a través de Zoom mientras ayudan a presentar a los niños y sus familias. ¡Esto también se ha convertido en una actividad divertida para ellos y una hermosa experiencia con los niños!
College Buddies Program
In the College Buddies Program, CSUN students have been able to assist young children from grades K-5th. The students are each assigned to a child to tutor and provide help with their homework and class assignments. Some of the common subjects they work on are mathematics, literature, and science. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to adjust to virtual learning and they managed to make it enjoyable and inspiring for the young students!
En el Programa College Buddies, los estudiantes de CSUN han podido ayudar a los niños pequeños de los grados K-5. A cada estudiante se le asigna un niño para que sea tutor y ayude al estudiante con sus tareas y asignaciones de clase. Algunos de los temas comunes en los que trabajan son matemáticas, literatura y ciencia.Durante la pandemia de COVID-19, tuvieron que adaptarse al aprendizaje virtual y lograron hacerlo agradable e inspirador para los jóvenes estudiantes.
Covid-19 Drive-By Event
After the children finished the tutoring sessions with their college buddies tutors, they were invited to a drive-by celebration for their completion of the program. During the celebration, they enjoyed the environment and were excited to be given a certificate along with a toy!
Después de que los niños terminaron las sesiones de tutoría con sus tutores, fueron invitados a una celebración en automóvil por la finalización del programa. Durante la celebración, los estudiantes disfrutaron del medio ambiente y estaban emocionados de recibir un certificado junto con un juguete.
Community Garden
The community garden includes tree planting in San Fernando Elementary where young students and parent leaders were able to plant and water on the school campus. They have planted about 50 trees/plants and the students water the plants whenever they pass by the area!
El jardín comunitario incluye la plantación de árboles en la escuela primaria San Fernando, donde los jóvenes estudiantes y los padres pioneros pudieron plantar y regar en el campus de la escuela. ¡Han plantado alrededor de 50 árboles / plantas y los estudiantes riegan las plantas cada vez que pasan por el área!
